The Golden Network Board

Liz Selvig, President

Lizbeth Selvig writes contemporary romantic fiction. Her debut novel, The Rancher and the Rock Star, will be released with Avon Impulse on February 28, 2012. Liz lives in Minnesota with her cradle-robbing husband and a border collie that inspired the character Dug “Squirrel!” the Dog in the Disney movie UP.  After working as a newspaper journalist and magazine editor, and raising an equine veterinarian daughter and a talented musician son, Liz entered RWA’s Golden Heart® contest in 2010 with, The Rancher and the Rock Star, then titled Songbird, and won the Single Title Contemporary category. In her spare time, she loves to hike, quilt, read, horseback ride, and play with her nearly twenty four-legged grandchildren.

Katrina Snow, Vice President

Katrina Snow was a 2010 Golden Heart® finalist with a Renaissance-era paranormal romance, and she also writes contemporary and Regency tales.  While this is her first experience serving as a board member, she has been an active participant in the New York City chapter and has eagerly attended every national RWA conference since she learned of them in 2007.

When she’s not writing or earning her keep as a busy executive assistant, Katrina enjoys traveling around the world and across town, snapping interesting photos, and reading witty novels—steamy ones too.  In addition to her creative endeavors, her loves in life include family, friends, her two neurotic cats, tall black boots and dangly earrings, cabs on rainy days, wickedly cheesy Italian dishes, and velvety dark chocolate.

Pam Menz-Baker, Treasurer

Hi, I’m Pam and I’m addicted to category romance. Probably because I’m living one.

My husband and I had a cute meet in high school and married a few years later. We carefully planned our first child while he was still in college–and had twins! More kids joined the family in various ways. Life and kids added both the internal and the external conflict, but we’re still crazy in love and still enjoy living together.  We live in the town where we were born and raised. I’m part of a group of high school friends who have dinner several times a year and who plan the reunion every 5 years.  I told you, it’s a category romance. <g>

I’m a long-time member of RWA, Central Ohio Fiction Writers, and a variety of additional chapters along the way.  I’m grateful for the wealth of market and craft information, and even more grateful for the enduring friendships.   I’ve had very good luck in the Golden Heart contest, but I haven’t done so well at sending in my work, a major goal for 2012.

Nancy Northcott, Secretary

Nancy Northcott, a three-time Golden Heart finalist, loves romances that include a hearty dose of action-adventure. When she isn’t writing, she’s reading, listening to music, or hanging out with her family’s bossy dog.  She’s married, with one son, and hopes one day to convince her husband that Prime Minister’s Question Time on C-SPAN is a really cool show.

Jamie Michele, Golden Pen Coordinator

Award-winning romance writer and former zookeeper Jamie Michele has wrestled a giant python, hand-captured a rogue vulture, and brushed the teeth of an alligator, but when she decided to write a novel, she did the unexpected: she didn’t write about animals. Instead, she indulged her long fascination with international espionage, merging it with her deep knowledge of the trials of love to produce AFFAIR OF VENGEANCE (Montlake Romance, Winter 2012), winner of a prestigious Golden Heart from the Romance Writers of America. Now trapped in a very boring suburb of Annapolis, Maryland, Jamie writes sexy, page-turning romances while managing her own little zoo, which consists of three cats and two exceedingly handsome great apes.
